Scout Project
I felt honored to have the opportunity to participate in celebrating 100 Years of Scouting by putting together two video presentations highlighting scout service, awards, and the legacy of a family involved in scouting since the 1940's. The videos are pretty big and lengthy, so I'll just show the pages I used to create the video. Enjoy!

How to Get Your Digital Pictures to PhotoFinish
Step 1: Download Picasa, by Google
This program is free, and it is awesome. Trust me, you're going to love it.
Step 2: Organize your pictures into folders using one folder per event (feel free to organize all your pics, not just the ones you want scrapbooked)
Step 3: Name the folders that you want me to scrapbook "PFM Name of Folder" (example: PFM Alex's First Birthday).
Step 4: If you want "journaling" on your pages, use the description field located just above the pictures to document the details of the event. I will generally use the words you put here verbatim, although I will correct your spelling and grammar.
Step 5: Select and Upload ONLY THE PICTURES YOU WANT ME TO USE* to a Picasa Web Album. Make sure you use the "original size" option. (Please do separate uploads for each folder.)
Step 6: Access your web albums, and choose the folder(s) you have uploaded. Click the "share" envelope, and send me a quick email to let me know the pictures are there. I will go download them, and I'll email you back so you can take them off your web albums if you so choose.
I know this seems like a lot, but it's really very simple once you get the hang of it. If you're here in the Salt Lake Valley, I'll gladly come hang out with you and walk you through it the first time. If you're out of town and have any issues, please let me know and I'll help you out!
*I will use all the pictures in each uploaded folder to create a 2-page spread unless otherwise specified.

A New Way of Thinking About It
This week my sister-in-law mentioned that she'd love to have me do all her kids' books from birth to now. Oh how I wish I could just do it for everyone for free, but sadly I can't. Still, I know my books are pricey. Add in this bad economy, and you have the perfect recipe for me to not make any books.
A couple of days later, I came up with an idea in my car that might be the solution; a way for people to have their memories stored in beautiful books without having to pay an arm and a leg. And here it is:
Let's trade services for services!
For example:
If you cut hair, I'll trade you pages for a hair cut.
If you decorate cakes, I'll trade you pages for a custom cake for a birthday party.
Do you make great FHE kits? Kits for pages.
You can even offer up your husband's skills and trade painting, drywalling, plumbing services, etc.
Offer up your teenaged sons for when my lawn needs mowed.
Get creative!
Here's the only 2 requirements I have for a trade:
1) It must be something I want/need.
2) You have to be REALLY good at the thing you're offering.
Any takers?

Granger High School Lunch Bunch
My mother-in-law works as a lunch lady at Granger High School, and although I think she and her work friends are a little crazy (I was with them once when they started doing the bunny hop inside Red Robbin), I really admire their close relationships and their take-us-or-leave-us attitude. It's that attitude that made this book -- a retirement gift for an outgoing manager -- so much fun to work on. I got to use lots of bold colors and patterns that I don't always get to pull out for the weddings. Gentle readers beware, however, that sometimes their language is as colorful as the pages, so read the quotes at your own risk.

California Trip
This June, Kirk's parents took us on a WONDERFUL trip to California. We went to Disneyland and SeaWorld, and we had so much fun. I also had a lot of fun working on this book. The subject matter was fun to scrap, and I just seemed to be in a good creative groove. Take a moment to enjoy the fruits of my labors!

Adam's Newborn and 1 Year Old Books
Back before I discovered digital scrapbooking, I was a traditional scrapper. When I decided to make the switch to digital, I knew I'd have to go back and convert the old ones. I didn't want to actually re-scrap them. What a waste of time! So I carefully took pictures and placed them on a digital page. It really wasn't THAT huge of a pain, and this way I get to preserve all that initial work but in the streamlined form of a digital book. I did discover along the way a few pages that I'd missed, so there are a few digital layouts throughout. I'm so glad to have this conversion done, though, and to get to display Adam's first two books along with his subsequent ones.
